If you like astronomy, Odilon Redon and Darwinism, I recommend this book.

Anna Von Mertens’ portraits are made from hand dyed, hand stitched cotton and capture the auras of (from top to bottom) Whistler’s Mother. Her Self Portrait, Mona Lisa, and The Duke and Duchess of Urbino. I originally went to her website to look at her hand stitched textile paintings of stars (look at them here) but I was more fascinated with these.

The Outsider Art Fair is happening in New York this weekend. I wish I could be there!

This is by far the best macrame book I have found. It is full of inspiring images of textile wall hangings and sculptures as well as detailed instruction on how to get started knotting. I just wish all of the images were in color.
