I was feeling a little bit nutrient deficient when I came across this blog post at Oh Joy. Since I have a juicer and access to fresh vegetables I went to the Pressed Juicery website to check out their ingredient list and headed to the Thursday night farmer’s market in Berkeley. (I have decided that this is my favorite all time market. It is small, easy to maneuver, everything is organic and they even have tofu and seafood!) The only item not in season and I had to go to the grocery store for was a cucumber. (I may rethink that one.) I started with the ingredients for Green #2 juice which consists of kale, spinach, romaine, parsley, cucumber, celery, apple, lemon. I juiced it with my old Champion juicer and it turned out to be a beautiful green color that tasted delicious. Unfortunately, there are no photos of that one. The next time I used some beet greens and forgot to put in the spinach and it separated into a reddish green color but when shaken it looks like a murky swamp. Luckily, it still tastes delicious. It could be strictly psychosomatic but I feel much healthier.
